Headlamps

The headlamps are controlled by the headlamp switch, to the left of the steering column on the instrument panel. They will can be turner on whether or not the ignition is turned on. Turning the headlamp switch all the way to the right will turn on the headlamps. Turning the headlamp switch half way will turn on the parking lamps. If the ignition is off and the headlamps are on, a warning tone will sound as a reminder to turn the lamps off. Headlamp low-beam and high-beam are controlled by the turn signal lever on the left side of the steering column. When the headlamps are on, pull the multi function lever toward you until the switch clicks; the lamps will change from low-beam to high-beam, or from high-beam to low-beam. An indicator lamp on the center instrument cluster will come on when the high-beam headlamps are on. When the low-beam headlamps are on, only the two outer bulbs will light. When the high-beam headlamps are on, only the two inner bulbs will be lit. When flash-to-pass, the driver can flash the high-beam headlamps briefly to warn other drivers. The headlamps must be off to use this feature (the parking lamps may be either off or on). Pull the turn signal lever toward the driver; the high-beam headlamps will come on. They will stay on until the turn signal lever is released. (If the headlamps are on, pulling the turn signal lever merely switches, between high-beam and low-beam headlamps.) Moisture may appear in the headlamp capsule from condensation; this is normal. To remove it, turn on the headlamps until the capsule dries. The headlamps must be aimed for proper illumination of the road. Headlamp aim should be checked: at least once a year; when a new headlamp is installed; or, if service or repairs to the front end area have (or may have) disturbed the headlamps or their mountings. Headlamp focus is set when the unit is made; no adjustment for focus is necessary or possible. Some state and local laws specify requirements for headlamp aim; these laws must be followed.
