Shift Interlock: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Remove the 6 center console screws (1,2,3,4,5,6).
2. Remove the center console from the vehicle.
3. Remove the rear console.
4. Unsnap the shifter indicator plate, while moving up towards the selector knob, disconnect the indicator light.
5. Disconnect the shift selector electrical connector.
6. Disconnect the shift select cable and the park lock cable from the selector.
7. Remove the park lock cable retainer bolt from the shift selector and set cable aside.
8. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
9. Remove the shift selector retaining nuts.
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Remove the shift selector assembly from the vehicle.
12. Remove the 2 selector knob screws and the selector knob from the selector lever.
13. Remove the shift indicator plate from the selector.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the shift indicator plate to the selector.
2. Install the selector knob and the 2 screws to the selector lever.
3. Install the shift selector assembly to the vehicle.
4. Raise and suitably support the vehicle
5. Install the shift selector retaining nuts.
^ Tighten the nuts to 16 Nm (11.5 ft. lbs.)
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Install and connect the shift select cable to the shift selector.
8. Connect the park lock cable and install the park lock retainer bolt. (Adjust the cable as necessary).
9. Tighten the retaining bolt to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.)
10. Connect the shift selector electrical connector.
11. Install the center console.
IMPORTANT: While pressing down the shift indicator plate towards the shift selector assembly connect the indicator light, firmly snap the shift indicator plate into place.
12. Install the rear console.
13. Install the 6 console screws (1,2,3,4,5,6).
