Keyless Entry System Operation
The keyless entry system allows the driver to do the following functions from outside the vehicle by using a hand held radio transmitter:^ Unlock door locks.
^ Lock door locks.
^ Release the rear compartment lid.
^ In addition, the courtesy lights activate automatically when using these functions. This feature is called illuminated entry.
The transmitter operates in the UHF band. The transmitter sends digitally coded signals to the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR). The RCDLR detects and decodes the signals and issues signals to control:
^ Door locks actuators.
^ Rear compartment lid release actuator.
^ Courtesy lights.
The keyless entry system can be programmed with up to four keyless entry transmitters.
The power door locks, rear compartment lid release, and courtesy lights can also be operated in the usual manner; for instance, the power door locks will respond to the door lock switches.
