Transmitter Programming
Transmitter Programming (Typical):
Perform this procedure when:
^ The RKE programming connector (BLK/WHT wire) is grounded (circuit 1455).
^ The Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) is replaced.
^ A keyless remote transmitter is replaced.
^ A second (up to a total of four) keyless remote transmitter is added.
Important:
^ If the vehicle has more than one keyless entry transmitter, all keyless entry transmitters have to programmed during the same programming sequence. Otherwise, the keyless entry transmitters that were not programmed will not work properly.
1. Open the rear compartment lid.
2. Pull the right side rear compartment trim for access.
3. using a jumper wire with alligator clips, ground RKE programming connector. The door locks will lock and unlock, indicating that the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) entered the keyless entry transmitter programming mode.
4. With the programming connector still grounded, program all of the keyless entry transmitters (one at a time):
A. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously on the keyless entry transmitter for 10 seconds.
B. The door locks will lock and unlock, indicating that the keyless entry transmitter has been programmed.
C. Repeat step 4 for each keyless entry transmitter to be programmed. Up to four keyless entry transmitter can be programmed.
5. Remove jumper wire from RKE programming connector terminal.
6. Verify the operating of the keyless entry transmitter(s).
