Headlamp: Service and Repair

Headlamp:




CAUTION:
^ Halogen bulbs contain a gas under pressure. Handling a bulb improperly could cause It to shatter into flying glass fragments. To help avoid personal injury:
^ Turn off the light switch and allow bulb to cool before changing bulbs. Leave the switch off until the bulb change is complete.
^ Always wear eye protection when changing a halogen bulb.
^ Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass.
^ Do not drop or scratch the bulb.
^ Keep moisture away.
^ Place the used bulb in the new bulb's carton and dispose of it properly. Keep halogen bulbs out of the reach of children.
^ Before removing or installing any electrical unit(s), disconnect the negative battery cable to help prevent personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
^ This vehicle has a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Refer to the SIR Component and Wiring Location view in order to determine whether you are performing service on or near the SIR component or the SIR wiring. When you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, refer to the SIR On-Vehicle Service information. Failure to follow the CAUTIONS could cause air bag deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.


REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Radiator air side baffle from radiator air upper baffle.
2. Upper front bumper fascia push-in retainer.
3. Bolts/screws from upper headlamp.
4. Headlamp, while pulling back fascia horn, slide headlamp inboard to disengage upper and lower outboard tabs.
5. Electrical connectors.
6. Headlamp from vehicle.
7. Socket and bulb from headlamp.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

1. Socket and bulb to headlamp.

IMPORTANT
^ Route electrical connectors and harness between headlamp and mounting bracket. The park/turn signal bulb, connector and harness do not go through the bracket.

2. Electrical connectors.

Important
^ The park/turn signal bulb, connector and harness do not go through the bracket.

3. Headlamp to vehicle.
^ While pulling back fascia horn, slide headlamp outboard to engage upper and lower outboard tabs.
4. Rotate headlamp into bracket and insert inboard tabs.

Important
^ Leave approximately a 6 mm (1/4 inch) gap between fender and headlamp.

5. Bolt/screws to upper headlamp.


Tighten
^ Bolt/screws to 3.5 N.m (31 lb. in.).

6. Upper front bumper fascia push-in retainer.
7. Radiator air side baffle to radiator air upper baffle.

Adjust
^ Headlamp aim. Refer to Headlamp Aiming in this section.
