Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair
Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: Care must be taken when handling the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor. Damage to the engine coolant temperature sensor will affect proper operation of the fuel injection system.
1. Drain the radiator coolant.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector.
3. Using a 19 mm deep well socket, remove the sensor.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Coat engine coolant temperature sensor threads with sealer P/N 1052080 or equivalent.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Hand start the ECT sensor into the engine.
Tighten
Tighten the ECT sensor to 12.5 N.m (9.2 lb ft).
3. Connect the electrical connector.
4. Refill radiator with coolant.
5. Start the engine and check for leaks.
6. Check coolant level.
