Stabilizer Bar: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Allow the front suspension to hang free. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Wheels, Tires and Alignment.
3. Remove the stabilizer shaft links. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement.
4. Support the front suspension support with a suitable jackstand.





5. Remove the rear mounting bolts from the front suspension support.
6. Remove the center mounting bolts from the front suspension support.
7. Remove the front mounting bolts from the front suspension support.
8. Lower the front suspension support approximately 15 cm (6 inch) by adjusting the jackstands down.





9. Remove the bolts (1) from the clamps (2) attaching the stabilizer shaft (3) to the suspension support (4).
10. Remove the stabilizer shaft (3) from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the stabilizer shaft to the vehicle.
2. Install the bolts to the clamps attaching the stabilizer shaft to the front suspension support. Hand tighten the bolts.
3. Install the front mounting bolts to the front suspension support. Hand tighten the bolts.
4. Install the center mounting bolts to the front suspension support. Hand tighten the bolts.
5. Install the rear mounting bolts to the front suspension support. Hand tighten the bolts.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





6. Install the rear mounting bolts to the front suspension support.
6.1. Tighten the left rear board bolt to 110 Nm (71 ft. lbs.).
6.2. Tighten the right rear board bolt to 110 Nm (71 ft. lbs.).
6.3. Tighten the left front board bolt to 110 Nm (71 ft. lbs.).
6.4. Tighten the right front board bolt to 110 Nm (71 ft. lbs.).
6.5. Tighten the center bolts to 110 Nm (71 ft. lbs.).
6.6. Tighten the stabilizer shaft clamp bolts to 66 Nm (49 ft. lbs.).
Install the stabilizer shaft links. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement.
8. Install the front tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Wheels, Tires and Alignment.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Check the front wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Specifications in Alignment.
