Scan Tool Data Definitions - Average Speed

The scan tool displays 0-255 km/h (0-159 mph). The IPC obtains vehicle speed data from the PCM on a dedicated input. The IPC calculates the average speed the vehicle has traveled per hour of ignition on time.
