Wheels and Tires: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

- Tools Required
- J 39544 Wheel Nut Torque Adapters

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lift Points.
2. Remove the wheel nut caps.
3. Remove the wheel nuts.
4. Mark the location of the tire and wheel assembly to hub assembly.
5. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
6. Clean the wheel nuts.
7. Clean the studs.
8. Clean the wheel mounting surfaces.
9. Clean the rotor mounting surfaces.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Align the locating mark on the tire and wheel assembly to the mark on the hub assembly.
2. Install the tire and wheel assembly.

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the wheel nuts.

- Using J 39544, tighten the wheel nuts in sequence to 140 Nm (100 ft. lbs.).

4. Install the wheel nut caps.
5. Lower the vehicle.
