Compressor HVAC: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner and duct assembly.
3. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging under Refrigerant, A/C Service and Repair.
4. Remove the accessory drive belt.
5. Raise and support the vehicle.
6. Remove the right side engine splash shield.
7. Remove the lower air deflector.
8. Disconnect the electrical connector from the compressor.
9. Remove the compressor hose assembly from rear of the compressor.
10. Remove the compressor rear mounting bolts.
11. Remove the compressor front mounting nuts.
12. Remove the compressor from the vehicle.
13. Remove the compressor bracket with the mounting bolts, if necessary.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
1. Install the compressor bracket with the mounting bolts, if necessary.
Tighten
^ Tighten the bracket upper bolt to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
^ Tighten the bracket lower bolt to 80 N.m (59 lb ft).
2. Install the compressor to the vehicle.
3. Install the compressor front nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the compressor nuts to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).
4. Install the compressor rear bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the compressor rear bolts to 31 N.m (23 lb ft).
IMPORTANT: Lubricate the new seals with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
5. Install the compressor hose assembly to the rear of the compressor.
6. Connect the electrical connector to the compressor.
7. Install the lower air deflector.
8. Install the right side engine splash shield.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Install the accessory drive belt.
11. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging under Refrigerant, A/C Service and Repair.
12. Inspect the A/C system for leaks. Refer to Leak Testing. Testing and Inspection
13. Install the air cleaner and duct assembly.
14. Connect the negative battery cable.
