Blower Motor Resistor: Service and Repair


Blower Motor Resistor Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
The blower motor resistor is located in the lower right hand corner of the HVAC module. This resistor is located between the blower motor and the front of the dash.
For information on system wiring, refer to HVAC Blower Controls System Check.

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the right sound insulator.
3. Remove the blower motor.
4. Cut a portion of the dash mat in order to gain access to the rear resistor screw.
5. Disconnect the electrical connection at the blower resistor.
6. Remove the blower resistor screws.
7. Remove the blower motor resistor.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the blower resistor.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the blower resistor screws.

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1 N.m (9 lb in).

3. Replace the portion of the dash mat that you cut during the removal procedure.
4. Connect the electrical connections at the blower resistor.
5. Install the blower motor.

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 5 N.m (45 lb in).

6. Install the right sound insulator.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.

Tighten
Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
