Trim Pad Replacement - IP

Removal Procedure

1. Disable the SIR system.
2. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable.
3. Remove the LH and RH instrument panel.
4. Remove the steering column filler panel.
5. Remove the knee bolster brackets to the instrument panel.
6. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module.
7. Remove the steering wheel tilt lever.
8. Remove the steering wheel.
9. Remove the steering column shrouds.
10. Remove the instrument panel cluster trim plate bezel.
11. Remove the ignition switch.
12. Remove the radio system.
13. Remove the HVAC control Assembly.






14. Disconnect the floor console storage bin lamp, if equipped.
15. Remove the headlamp switch.
16. Remove the hood release handle.
17. Disconnect the data link connector.
18. Remove the instrument cluster.
19. Disconnect and reposition the LH fuse block wiring harness.
20. Remove the LH and the RH windshield pillar garnish moldings.
21. Remove the defroster grille.
22. Remove the instrument panel compartment.
23. Disconnect the instrument panel compartment lamp switch.
24. Remove the right upper instrument panel trim panel. Remove the right lower instrument panel trim panel.
25. Remove the instrument panel upper trim pad.
26. Remove the remote control door lock receiver module.
27. Remove the inflatable restraint instrument panel module.
28. Disconnect and reposition the RH instrument panel fuse block wiring harness.






29. Remove the small instrument panel trim pad screws.






30. Remove the large instrument panel trim pad screws in the order shown in the graphic.
31. Reposition the instrument panel wiring harness from the instrument panel.
32. Remove the instrument panel trim pad from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Position the instrument panel trim pad to the vehicle.
2. Position the instrument panel wiring harness to the original location on the instrument panel assembly.






3. Install the large instrument panel trim pad screws in the order shown in the graphic.

Tighten

Tighten the large instrument panel trim pad screws to 10 N.m (89 lb in).







4. Install the small instrument panel trim pad screws.

Tighten

Tighten the small instrument panel trim pad screws to 2 Nm (18 lb in).

5. Connect the RH instrument panel fuse block wiring harness.
6. Install the inflatable restraint instrument panel module.
7. Install the remote control door lock receiver module.
8. Install the instrument panel upper trim pad.
9. Install the defroster grille.
10. Install the right lower instrument panel trim panel.
11. Install the right upper instrument panel trim panel.
12. Connect the instrument panel compartment lamp switch.
13. Install the instrument panel compartment.
14. Connect the LH fuse block wiring harness.
15. Install the RH and the LH windshield pillar garnish moldings.
16. Install the instrument cluster.
17. Connect the data link connector.

Tighten

Tighten the data link connector bolts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

18. Install the hood release handle.
19. Install the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.






20. Connect the floor console storage bin lamp, if equipped.
21. Install the HVAC control assembly.
22. Install the radio.
23. Position the ignition switch to the instrument panel.
24. Install the ignition switch bolts.

Tighten

Tighten ignition switch bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

25. Install the instrument panel cluster trim plate bezel.
26. Install the steering wheel.
27. Install the steering column covers.
28. Install the steering wheel tilt lever.
29. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module.
30. Install the knee bolster brackets to the instrument panel.
31. Install the steering column opening filler panel.
32. Install the LH and RH instrument panel insulator.
33. Enable the SIR system.
34. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable.
