Battery Insulator Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
CAUTION:
^ Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Cautions and Notices.
^ Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the positive battery cable.
3. Remove the sheet metal diagonal brace.
4. Remove the washer solvent container.
5. Remove the battery hold down retainer.
IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees while adjusting the battery.
6. Adjust the battery for access.
IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during battery insulator removal.
7. Remove the battery insulator.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during battery insulator installation.
1. Install the battery insulator.
IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees while adjusting the battery.
2. Return the battery to the proper position.
3. Install the battery hold down retainer.
4. Install the washer solvent container.
5. Install the sheet metal diagonal brace.
6. Connect the positive battery cable.
Tighten
Tighten the positive battery cable terminal bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
Tighten
Tighten the negative battery cable terminal bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
