Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
2. Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) electrical connector.





3. Remove one retaining bolt (1) and the VSS (2) from the transaxle.
4. Inspect the VSS O-ring for cuts or damage. Replace as necessary.

Installation Procedure

^ Tools Required
- J36850 Transmission Assembly Lubricant

1. Apply J36850 to the VSS O-ring.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





2. Install the VSS (2) into the transaxle case. Secure the VSS with the retaining bolt (1).
^ Tighten the VSS bolt to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
3. Connect the VSS electrical connector.
4. Connect the negative (-) battery cable.
