Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid
Check the marks on the fluid level indicator on the power steering reservoir to determine fluid level.1. Keep the vehicle level.
2. With the engine idling at 1,000 RPM or less, turn the steering wheel from stop to stop several times to boost fluid temperature. Fluid should be at 80°C (176°F).
3. Check for foaming or a milky appearance. Foaming and a milky appearance indicate either the existence of air in the system or that the fluid level is too low.
4. Check the fluid level in the reservoir and add fluid if necessary.
NOTICE: When adding fluid or making a complete fluid change, always use the proper power steering fluid. Failure to use the proper fluid will cause hose and seal damage and fluid leaks.
