Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Inspect tires for wrong pressure.
2. Inspect tires for uneven wear.
3. Inspect joints from the column to the steering gear for loose connections or wear.
4. Inspect the following for loose or damaged parts:
- Inspect the front suspension.
- Inspect the rear suspension.
- Inspect the steering gear.
- Inspect the linkage.
5. Inspect for out-of-round tires.
6. Inspect for out-of-balance tires.
7. Inspect for bent wheels.
8. Inspect for loose and/or rough hub and bearing assemblies.
9. Inspect the power steering systems for leaks.
10. Check the power steering fluid level.
11. Check the accessory drive belt tension. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Diagnosis in Engine.
