Brake Pedal Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the driver's side instrument panel insulator. Refer to Insulator Replacement IP (Left) in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
2. Remove the stoplamp switch. Refer to Stoplamp Switch Replacement.
3. Remove the wiring harness clips.
4. Remove the brake pedal push rod retaining clip at the brake pedal.





5. Disconnect park brake indicator.
6. Remove the brake pedal nut (10) and the bolt (9).
7. Remove the brake pedal (7) and the bushings (4), if necessary.
8. Clean all of the components with a suitable solvent.
9. Inspect all parts for evidence of wear. Repair or replace the worn parts as needed.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the brake pedal (7) and the bushings (4), if removed.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install brake pedal nut (10) and the bolt (9).
- Tighten the nut to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).





3. Install the master cylinder push rod retaining clip at the brake pedal.
4. Install the wiring harness clips.
5. Install the stoplamp switch. Refer to Stoplamp Switch Replacement.
6. Install the instrument panel insulator. Refer to Insulator Replacement - IP (Left) in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
7. Adjust the stoplamp switch. Refer to Stoplamp Switch Adjustment.
