Circuit Description
The EBCM is required to operate within a specified range of voltage to function properly. The EBCM monitors for high voltage conditions which could damage the EBCM. The EBCM is designed to detect high vehicle voltage levels to the solenoid relay, High voltage may cause damage to the system.

Conditions for Running the DTC
The vehicle speed is greater than 8 km/h (5 mph).

Conditions for Setting the DTC
The battery voltage is greater than 17 volts for 0.72 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets
If equipped, the following actions occur:
^ The EBCM disables the ABS/TCS for the duration of the ignition cycle.
^ The ABS indicator turns ON.
^ The Traction Off indicator turns ON.
^ The message center displays the Service Traction System message.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC:
^ Condition for DTC is no longer present and scan tool clear DTC function is used.
^ 100 ignition cycles have passed with no DTCs detected.

Diagnostic Aids
^ It is very important that a thorough inspection of the wiring and connectors be performed. Failure to carefully and fully inspect wiring and connectors may result in misdiagnosis, causing part replacement with reappearance of the malfunction.
^ If an intermittent malfunction exists refer to Testing for Intermittent and Poor Connections in Diagnostic Aids under Diagrams.
^ Check for other high voltage conditions.
^ Test the charging system for overcharging conditions. Refer to A Diagnostic System Check -Starting and Charging.
