Key In Ignition Reminder

The key-in-ignition warning chime sounds when the key is in the ignition, not in the ON or START position and the left front door is open. Inserting a key in the ignition switch closes the ignition key warning switch, which applies a ground input to the Instrument Panel Cluster. (IPC). The IPC sends a message on the class 2 serial data line to the radio, signalling that the key-in-ignition switch is closed. Opening the left front door closes the left front door jamb switch. If the conditions to activate the chime are met, the BCM sends a message on the Class 2 serial data line requesting the radio to activate the key-in-ignition chime.
