Tail Lamp: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Open the rear compartment lid.
2. Remove the following components from the vehicle:
^ The 4 rear compartment trim panel plastic retainers (2)
^ The rear compartment trim panel (1)




3. Disconnect the tail lamp electrical connector (2).
4. Remove the following components from the vehicle:
^ The 5 nuts (1)
^ The tail lamp




5. Remove the following from the tail lamp:
^ The side marker lamp socket (2)
^ The stoplamp socket (3)
^ The backup lamp socket (4)
^ The turn signal lamp socket (1)
^ The tail lamp wiring harness
6. Remove the following from the lamp sockets, if necessary:
^ The side marker bulb
^ The stoplamp bulb
^ The backup lamp bulb
^ The [1][2]turn signal lamp bulb

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the following to the lamp sockets, if removed:
^ The side marker bulb
^ The stoplamp bulb
^ The backup lamp bulb
^ The [1][2]turn signal lamp bulb
2. Install the following to the tail lamp:
^ The tail lamp wiring harness
^ The side marker lamp socket (2)
^ The stoplamp socket (3)
^ The backup lamp socket (4)
^ The turn signal lamp socket (1)

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.




3. Install the tail lamp to the vehicle. Secure the tail lamp with the 5 nuts (1).

Tighten
Tighten the tail lamp nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

4. Connect the tail lamp electrical connector (2).




5. Install the rear compartment trim panel (1) to the vehicle. Secure the trim panel with the 4 plastic retainers (2).
6. Close the rear compartment lid.
