6. Valve Body Installation
Installation Procedure1. Install the 9 balls into the upper valve body (2).
^ Seven of the check balls have a thickness of 5.50 mm (0.217 inch) (1).
^ Two of the check balls have a thickness of 6.40 mm (0.252 inch) (3).
2. Install the following onto the lower valve body (3) and secure with two screws (1):
^ The spacer plate (2)
^ Two new gaskets
3. Install the following components onto the lower valve body (3). Secure the components with the two bolts (2):
^ The new lower valve body cover gasket
^ The lower valve body cover (1)
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
^ Tighten the two lower-to-upper valve body bolts to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.)
4. Install the lower valve body (2) with the spacer plate and the gasket onto the upper valve body (3).
5. Secure the lower valve body to the upper valve body (1) with the 19 bolts
^ Tighten the 50 mm (1.97 inch) lower-to-upper valve body bolts to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
^ Tighten the 38 mm (1.50 inch) lower-to-upper valve body bolts to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
^ Tighten the 20 mm (0.78 inch) lower-to-upper valve body bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
6. Install the following onto the lower valve body (2); secure with one bolt:
^ The pressure relief valve check ball
^ The spring
^ The retainer (1)
^ Tighten the pressure relief valve retaining bolt to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
7. Install two new O-rings onto the shift solenoids No. 1 and 2.
8. Install shift solenoids No. 1 (1) and 2 (2) into the lower valve body; secure with one bolt (5).
^ Tighten the solenoid retaining bolt to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
9. Install one new O-ring onto the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) solenoid (3).
10. Install the TCC solenoid into the lower valve body; secure with one bolt (4).
^ Tighten the solenoid retaining bolt to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
11. Install the following components onto the upper valve body; securing with one bolt:
^ One bolt
^ The throttle valve cam sleeve
^ The return spring
^ The throttle valve cam
^ Tighten the throttle valve cam bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
