Radio/Stereo: Service and Repair

RADIO REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Unsnap the instrument panel (IP) accessory trim plate (2).
2. Disconnect the electrical connectors (1) from the switches (3), if equipped.




3. Remove the radio bracket bolts (2).
4. Slide the radio (1) out from the IP.




5. Disconnect the following components from the radio (1):
^ The antenna cable (2)
^ The IP wiring harness connector (3)
6. Remove the radio from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the radio (1) to the vehicle.
2. Connect the following components to the radio:
^ The antenna cable (2)
^ The IP wiring harness connector (3)




3. Slide the radio (1) into the IP.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the radio bracket bolts (2).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts (2) to 1.8 N.m (16 lb in).




5. Connect the electrical connector (1) to the switches (3), if equipped.
6. Install the IP accessory trim plate (2).
7. Disable the radio Theftlock(R) feature. Refer to Radio/Audio System Description and Operation (Chevrolet) or Radio/Audio System Description and Operation (Pontiac).
