Instrument Panel (IP) - Center Support Bracket Replacement



Bracket Replacement - IP Center Support

Removal Procedure




1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the console.
4. Remove the IP accessory trim plate.
5. Remove the driver knee bolster trim panel.
6. Remove the IP passenger compartment.
7. Remove the IP upper trim pad.
8. Remove the park/lock control cable (A/T).
9. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) electrical connector.




10. Disconnect the SDM electrical connector.
11. Remove the ignition switch bolts, then reposition the ignition switch.






Important: The following step must be performed to assure proper trim fits during installation.

12. Mark the location of the IP center support bracket. Refer to IP Disassembly Precautions.
13. Remove the center support bracket to driveline tunnel bolt - RH.




14. Remove the center support bracket to passenger knee bolster bracket bolts.
15. Remove the center support bracket to IP lower support beam bolt - RH.




16. Remove the center support bracket to driveline tunnel bolt - LH.






Important: The following step must be performed to assure proper trim fits during installation.

17. Mark the location of the ignition switch housing bracket. Refer to IP Disassembly Precautions.
18. Remove the ignition switch housing bracket to steering column bracket bolt.
19. Remove the center support bracket to IP lower support beam bolt - LH.
20. Slowly pull the center support bracket away from the IP to access the radio control and HVAC control connectors.




21. Disconnect the radio control electrical/audio and coaxial cable connectors.
22. Disconnect the HVAC control electrical connectors and vacuum harness connectors (C60).
23. Release the IP wiring harness retainer and the parking brake connector clip from the center support bracket.




24. Remove the ignition switch housing bracket to center support bracket bolts.
25. Remove the ignition switch housing bracket.

Important: Take note of the IP harness routing through the IP center support bracket prior to removal.

26. Remove the IP harness from the center support bracket.
27. Remove the center support bracket from the vehicle.




28. Remove the radio control retaining screws.




29. Remove the radio control from the center support bracket.




30. Remove the HVAC control retaining screws.
31. Remove the HVAC control from the center support bracket.
32. Remove the SDM from the center support bracket.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the SDM to the center support bracket.
2. Install the HVAC control to the center support bracket.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the HVAC control retaining screws.

Tighten the HVAC control retaining screws to 1.9 N.m (17 lb in).




4. Align the radio control locator to the center support bracket locator hole, then push to install the radio control.




5. Install the radio control retaining screws.

Tighten the radio control retaining screws to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).




6. Position the ignition switch housing bracket to the center support bracket as marked prior to removal.
7. Install the ignition switch housing bracket to center support bracket bolts.

Tighten the ignition switch housing bracket to IP center support bracket bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

8. Install the center support bracket to the vehicle.
9. Install the IP wiring harness to the center support bracket as noted prior to removal.




10. Secure the IP wiring harness retainer and the parking brake connector clip to the center support bracket.
11. Connect the HVAC control electrical connectors and vacuum harness connectors (C60).
12. Connect the radio control electrical/audio and coaxial cable connectors.




13. Install the center support bracket into position as marked prior to removal.
14. Install the center support bracket to IP lower support beam bolt - LH.

Tighten the IP center support bracket bolt to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

15. Position the ignition switch housing bracket to the steering column bracket as marked prior to removal.
16. Install the ignition switch housing bracket to steering column bracket bolt.

Tighten the ignition switch housing bracket to steering column bracket bolt to 1.9 N.m (17 lb in).




17. Install the center support bracket to driveline tunnel bolt - LH.

Tighten the IP center support bracket bolt to 12 N.m (106 lb in).




18. Install the center support bracket to IP lower support beam bolt - RH.

Tighten the IP center support bracket bolt to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

19. Install the center support bracket to passenger knee bolster bracket bolts.

Tighten the IP center support bracket bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).




20. Install the center support bracket to driveline tunnel bolt - RH.

Tighten the IP center support bracket bolt to 12 N.m (106 lb in).




21. Position and install the ignition switch to the ignition switch housing bracket. Refer to Ignition Switch Replacement.
22. Connect the SDM electrical connector.




23. Install the CPA to the SDM electrical connector.
24. Install the park/lock control cable (A/T).
25. Install the IP upper trim pad.
26. Install the IP passenger compartment.
27. Install the driver knee bolster trim panel.
28. Install the IP accessory trim plate.
29. Install the console.
30. Connect the negative battery cable.

Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

31. Program the transmitters. Refer to Transmitter Synchronization and Transmitter Programming in Keyless Entry.
32. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
