Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.
2. Remove the left door trim.
3. Remove the water deflector as required.
4. Remove the inner energy absorber pad.
5. Loosen the outer energy absorber pad top clip and pull the pad away from the outer door panel.
6. Remove the inflatable sensor (2) fasteners.
7. Slide the discriminating sensor out from behind its mounting bracket on the door impact beam (1).
8. Disconnect the inflatable restraint side impact sensor wiring harness connector.
9. Remove the inflatable restraint side impact sensor from the door.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Position the inflatable restraint side impact sensor (2) to the mounting bracket.
2. Connect the inflatable restraint side impact sensor yellow 2-way harness connector.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the inflatable restraint side impact sensor (1) fasteners.

Tighten
Use only hand tools to tighten the inflatable restraint side impact fasteners to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

4. Press the outer energy absorber pad toward the outer door panel arid secure it with the clip.
5. Install the Inner energy absorber pad.
6. Install the water deflector as required.
7. Install the left door trim panel.
8. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.
