Armrest Replacement - Front Seat (Impala)

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the front seat ashtray and housing.
2. Using side cutters, remove the lower and upper push-in retainers from the front seat armrest base cover.




3. Remove the front seat armrest base cover from the armrest.




4. Pull out the top armrest cover to disconnect the connector, located behind the X-slotted insert.
5. Slide the top armrest cover up to expose the attaching bolts.




6. Remove the rear bolts from the front seat armrest base.




7. Remove the front bolts from the front seat armrest base.




8. Remove the front seat armrest from the front seat cushion frame.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the armrest to the seat cushion frame.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




2. Install the rear bolts (1) to the front seat armrest.

Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).




3. Install the front bolts (1) to the front seat armrest.

Tighten the bolts 10 N.m (89 lb in).

4. Position the top cover to the retainers and push-in to secure.




5. Install the front seat armrest base cover to the armrest.




6. Install the NEW lower and upper push-in retainers to the front seat armrest base cover, pressing into place until fully seated.
7. Install the front seat ashtray and housing.
