Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar (Monte Carlo)

Removal Procedure




1. Reposition the rear upper quarter trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Impala) Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (Monte Carlo).
2. Remove the windshield garnish molding from the clip retainers on the upper/roof side rail.




3. Remove the windshield garnish molding from the windshield pillar.
4. Remove the windshield garnish molding from the front door carpet retainer, pulling up and back.
5. Remove the windshield garnish molding from the vehicle.




6. Remove the upper side rail clip retainer if damaged in the removal of windshield garnish molding.

Installation Procedure






Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

1. Install the new upper side rail clip retainer and screw if removed, to the upper side rail.

Tighten the upper side rail clip retainer screw to 2 N.m (18 lb in).




2. Align the windshield garnish molding to the front door carpet retainer and front door weatherstrip.
3. Align the windshield garnish molding to the trough on the upper instrument panel trim panel.
4. Align the windshield garnish molding retainers to the windshield pillar.
5. Align the windshield garnish molding to the clip retainers on the upper side rail.
6. Install the windshield garnish molding, applying pressure at all the retainers locations until fully seated.
7. Install the rear upper quarter trim panel.
