Instrument Panel (IP) - Trim Pad Replacement - Upper



Trim Pad Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper (Monte Carlo)

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Restraint System Service Precautions in Service Precautions.

1. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) cluster trim plate.
2. Remove the I/P right upper trim panel.
3. Remove the garnish moldings from the left and from the right windshield pillar.




4. Starting at the right side, carefully lift upwards on the defroster grille in order to release the retainers. Continue working to the left side until you have released all of the retainers.
5. Disconnect the daytime running lamps (DRL) sensor from the defroster grille.
6. Remove the defroster grille.
7. Remove the I/P upper trim pad screws.
8. Remove the remote keyless entry module.
9. Disengage the I/P insulator retainers near the glass from the upper trim pad.
10. Remove the I/P upper trim pad.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the I/P upper trim pad to the instrument panel.
Install the I/P insulator retainers near the glass to the upper trim pad.
2. Install the remote keyless entry module.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the I/P upper trim pad screws.

* Tighten the horizontal screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
* Tighten the vertical screws to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

4. Position the defroster grille to the upper I/P. Connect the DRL sensor to the defroster grille. Ensure that the DRL sensor wiring harness is not pinched when you install the defroster grille.
5. Starting at the left side, install the retainers to the defroster grille. Continue working to the right side until all of the retainers are installed.
6. Install the garnish moldings to the right and the left windshield pillar.
7. Install the I/P right upper trim panel.
8. Install the I/P cluster trim plate.
