Condition

Some customers may comment on an inoperative horn.

Cause

This condition may be caused by water ingestion into the horn.

Correction

Technicians are to install a new horn equipped with a splash shield using the following procedure:

Remove the inoperative horn. Refer to the Horn Replacement procedure in SI.

Install a splash shield, P/N 89046906, on the new horn.

Install the new horn so that it is turned approximately 90° from its original orientation. Position the opening of the new horn so that it faces toward the front of the vehicle. This will help prevent the water intrusion. Use the proper electrical connector that is supplied in the horn service kit.

Test the operation of the new horn.
