Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Cluster

Removal Procedure

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in Restraint Systems.




2. Remove the screws from the lower steering column trim cover.
3. Remove the upper trim cover from the steering column.




4. Remove the screws from the I/P cluster trim plate.




5. Gently pry out the I/P cluster trim plate form the I/P carrier with a small flat-bladed tool.
6. Remove the I/P cluster trim plate from the I/P carrier.
7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the I/P dimmer switch.
8. Disconnect the electrical connector from the hazard warning switch.

Installation Procedure




1. Connect the electrical connector to the hazard warning switch.
2. Connect the electrical connector to the I/P dimmer switch.
3. Align the cluster trim plate tabs to the retainers.
4. Install the I/P cluster trim plate to the I/P carrier.






Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

5. Install the screws to the I/P cluster trim plate.

Tighten the screws to 2.3 N.m (20 lb in).




6. Install the upper trim cover to the steering column.
7. Install the screws to the lower steering column trim cover.

Tighten the screws to 2.3 N.m (20 lb in).

8. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in Restraint Systems.
