INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) INDICATORS






















MESSAGE CENTER INDICATORS

CHANGE ENGINE OIL
The IPC illuminates the CHANGE ENGINE OIL indicator in the message center when the powertrain control module (PCM) determines that the engine oil should be changed. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM requesting illumination. After the oil is changed, reset the engine oil monitor using the reset procedure in order to clear the CHANGE ENGINE OIL indicator. LOW ENGINE OIL LEVEL
The IPC illuminates the LOW ENG OIL LEVEL indicator in the message center when the powertrain control module (PCM) detects low engine oil level, and the signal circuit is high. The IPC receives a class 2 message requesting illumination from the PCM.

LOW FUEL
The IPC illuminates the low fuel indicator in the message center when the fuel level is less than a pre-determined value. The IPC receives a class 2 message indicating fuel level percent from the PCM.

LOW OIL PRESSURE
The IPC illuminates the LOW OIL PRESSURE indicator in the message center when the powertrain control module (PCM) detects low engine oil pressure, and the signal circuit is high. The IPC receives a class 2 message requesting illumination message from the PCM.

SERVICE VEHICLE SOON
The IPC illuminates the SERVICE VEHICLE SOON message in the message center when any of the following conditions occur:
- The PCM detects certain malfunctions that are not related to the emissions system. The IPC receives a class 2 message requesting illumination from the PCM.
- The IPC detects a loss of class 2 communication with the PCM.
- The IPC does not detect any class 2 communication with the vehicle.
