B3280
DTC B3280
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The power window motor front passenger up and down control and power window switch right front express signal circuits provide inputs to the passenger door module (PDM) when the passenger window switch is activated to the UP, DOWN, EXPRESS UP or EXPRESS DOWN positions. These inputs allow the PDM to detect a window UP, DOWN, EXPRESS UP or EXPRESS DOWN request. The PDM provides power to the passenger window switch. When the window switch is activated to the UP, DOWN, EXPRESS UP or EXPRESS DOWN position, ground is supplied by G202. When the PDM detects low voltage on one of the circuits, it will command the window in the UP, DOWN, EXPRESS UP or EXPRESS DOWN direction. The PDM monitors the circuits to determine how long the ground has been applied. If the PDM detects that a ground is applied for greater than 20 seconds, a DTC is set. For more detailed information concerning power window operation refer to Power Windows Description and Operation.
DTC DESCRIPTORs
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTCs:
- DTC B3170 Right Front Window Up Switch Circuit
- DTC B3175 Right Front Window Down Switch Circuit
- DTC B3280 Right Front Window Express Up or Down Circuit
CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
- The PDM detects a short to ground in a window switch circuit.
- Condition must be present for greater than 20 seconds.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
- When DTC B3170 is present, inputs from the passenger window UP switch are ignored.
- When DTC B3175 is present, inputs from the passenger window DOWN switch are ignored.
- When DTC B3280 is present, inputs from the passenger window EXPRESS switch are ignored.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
- The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists.
- You issue a scan tool CLEAR DTCs command.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
The following conditions may cause an intermittent malfunction:
- There is an intermittent short to ground in the window switch circuit.
- The window switch is shorted to ground internally or is sticking.
- The window switch was pressed for longer than 20 seconds.
- Thoroughly inspect the wiring and connectors. An incomplete inspection of the wiring and connectors may result in misdiagnosis causing part replacement with the reappearance of the malfunction. If an intermittent malfunction exists, refer to Diagnostic Aids for Circuit Testing and Wiring Repair Procedures. Component Tests and General Diagnostics
