DTC B3542

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM) check for hall sensor pulses of their respective window motors at least once every 50 milliseconds. When the DDM or PDM detects no hall sensor pulses in the window motor, a DTC is set. For more detailed information concerning power window operation refer to Power Windows Description and Operation.

This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:
DTC B3542 Left Front/Driver Window Obstruction Sensor Control Circuit

CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
- The DDM or PDM detects no hall sensor pulses from the power window motor.
- A RAM memory check error has been detected.
- A window lifter motor error has been detected.
- Under/overrun of position counter detected.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
No window express modes are possible.

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
- The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists.
- You issue a scan tool CLEAR DTCs command.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
The following conditions may cause an intermittent malfunction:
- There is an intermittent sticking or binding condition on a window causing the window to be unable to move.
- A window motor is shorted internally.
- Thoroughly inspect the wiring and connectors. An incomplete inspection of the wiring and connectors may result in misdiagnosis causing part replacement with the reappearance of the malfunction.
