SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING ZONE 4

DISABLING PROCEDURE
1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Place the ignition in the OFF position.




3. Remove the kick-up panel (2) to expose the instrument panel (I/P) fuse block.
4. Remove the I/P fuse block cover (1).




5. Locate the SDM fuse within the I/P fuse block.

IMPORTANT: With the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) fuse removed and the ignition in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation and does not indicate a SIR system malfunction.

6. Remove the SDM fuse from the I/P fuse block.




7. Remove the right/passenger sound insulator from the I/P.
8. Locate the I/P module yellow connector just right of console and remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the vehicle harness yellow connector.
9. Disconnect the I/P module yellow connector from the vehicle harness yellow connector.




10. Remove both CPAs (1) from the RF/passenger side impact module and seat belt pretensioner yellow connector (3) which is located under the passenger seat.
11. Disconnect the vehicle harness yellow connector (2) from the RF side impact module and pretensioner yellow connector (3).




12. Remove the left/driver sound insulator from the I/P.
13. Remove the CPA (1) from the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).
14. Disconnect the steering wheel module coil yellow connector (3) from the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).




15. Remove both CPAs (3) from the LF/driver side impact module and pretensioner yellow connector (1) which is located under the driver seat.
16. Disconnect the vehicle harness yellow connector (2) from the LF side impact module and pretensioner yellow connector (1).

ENABLING PROCEDURE
1. Place the ignition in the OFF position.




2. Connect the vehicle harness yellow connector (2) to the LF side impact module and pretensioner yellow connector (1).
3. Install both CPAs (3) to the LF side impact module and pretensioner yellow connector (1).




4. Connect the steering wheel module coil yellow connector (3) to the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).
5. Install the CPA (1) to the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).
6. Install the left sound insulator to the I/P.




7. Connect the vehicle harness yellow connector (2) to the LF side impact module and pretensioner yellow connector (1).
8. Install both CPAs (3) to the LF side impact module and pretensioner yellow connector (1).




9. Connect the I/P module yellow connector to the vehicle harness yellow connector.
10. Install the CPA to the vehicle harness yellow connector.
11. Install the right sound insulator to the I/P.




12. Install the SDM fuse into the I/P fuse block.
13. Install the I/P fuse block cover (1).
14. Install the kick-up panel (2) to cover the I/P fuse block (1).
15. Use caution while reaching in and place the ignition to the ON position.The AIR BAG indicator will flash then turn OFF.
16. Perform the Vehicle System Check if the AIR BAG warning indicator does not operate as described. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle. Testing and Inspection
