Wire Harness Assembly Replacement (Manual Tilt Column)

Removal Procedure





1. Caution:
Refer to Restraint System Caution in Service Precautions.

Important:
Check the main wiring harness assembly for burned 2 amp fuses before doing this procedure.

Disable the SIR coil. Refer to Restraint System Disabling and Enabling Zone 3.
2. Remove the steering wheel from the column.
3. Remove the steering column from the vehicle.
4. Inspect the steering column for accident damage. Refer to Steering Column Accident Damage Inspection.
5. Remove the upper and lower trim cover.
6. Disconnect all connectors attached to the wire harness assembly.
7. Remove the bulkhead connector.

Installation Procedure





1. Caution:
Refer to SIR Inflator Module Coil Caution in Service Precautions.

Slide the bulkhead connector into the steering column.
2. Connect all of the connectors to the wire harness assembly.
3. Install the upper and lower trim cover.
4. Install the steering column into the vehicle.
5. Install the steering wheel onto the steering column.
6. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Restraint System Disabling and Enabling Zone 3.
