Indicator/Warning Message Description and Operation

CHANGE OIL SOON

The driver information center (DIC) illuminates the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message when the engine control module (ECM) determines that the engine oil life is 0 percent. The ECM sends a serial data message to the BCM requesting the radio to display the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message in the DIC. After the oil is changed, reset the engine oil monitor. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting.

DOOR AJAR

The instrument panel cluster (IPC) and the driver information center (DIC) in the radio illuminate the door ajar indicator when the body control module (BCM) detects that any of the four doors is open. The IPC and DIC receive a serial data message from the BCM requesting illumination. If the vehicle is shifted out of park with a door open, the BCM sends a serial data message to the IPC in order to activate an audible warning.

ICE POSSIBLE

The radio illuminates the ICE POSSIBLE message when the outside air temperature drops below 2.0°C (36°F). When the temperature rises above 5.5°C (42°F), the ICE POSSIBLE message turns off. The radio receives a serial data message from the BCM indicating the outside air temperature.

LOW FUEL

The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the low fuel indicator when the IPC detects that the fuel level is less than 14 percent. The indicator is an LED on the fuel gage. The IPC receives a serial data message from the body control module (BCM) indicating the fuel level percent.

LOW OIL PRESSURE

The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the engine oil pressure indicator when the engine control module (ECM) detects a low engine oil pressure condition. The ECM sends a serial data message to the body control module (BCM) indicating a low engine oil pressure. The IPC receives a serial data message from the BCM requesting the illumination of the engine oil pressure indicator.

SERVICE VEHICLE SOON

The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the SERVICE VEHICLE SOON indicator when the following conditions occur:

* The body control module (BCM) detects certain vehicle malfunctions that are not emissions related. The IPC receives a serial data message from the BCM requesting the illumination of the SERVICE VEHICLE SOON indicator.
* The IPC detects a loss of serial data communications with the BCM.

VEHICLE OVERSPEED (Export Only)

The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the vehicle overspeed indicator when the body control module (BCM) detects that the vehicle speed is more than 120 km/h (75 mph). The IPC receives a serial data message from the BCM requesting the illumination of the vehicle overspeed indicator.
