DTC Descriptors
DTC C0131 00
- Antilock Brake System (ABS)/Traction Control System (TCS) Pressure Circuit Malfunction
DTC C0131 4B
- Antilock Brake System (ABS)/Traction Control System (TCS) Pressure Circuit Calibration Not Learned
Circuit/System Description
The brake pressure sensor is integral to the brake pressure modulator valve assembly. The electronic brake control module (EBCM) monitors the brake pressure sensor supply voltage and the signal voltage. The EBCM uses inputs from the brake pedal position sensor and the brake pressure sensor for more accurate control during a electronic stability control event.
Conditions for Running the DTC
Ignition ON.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
C0131 00
* The brake pressure sensor signal voltage is less than 4.4 V or greater than 5.4 V.
* The master cylinder pressure sensor signal offset is ± 15 bar (± 217.56 psi).
C0131 4B
The brake pressure sensor is not calibrated.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
* The EBCM disables the traction control and the electronic stability control for the duration of the ignition cycle.
* The traction control/stability control-active indicator turns ON.
* The ABS indicator turns ON.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The condition for the DTC is no longer present.
* A current DTC clears when the diagnostic runs and passes.
* The EBCM clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 40 consecutive drive cycles.
* The EBCM will turn OFF the indicator in the next ignition cycle.

Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition ON, verify DTC C0277 or C0890 is not set.
• If either DTC is set, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle.
2. Verify the brake pedal position sensor or the brake pedal is not binding causing residual brake pressure to be detected.
• If a condition is found, repair or replace the applicable component.
3. Observe the scan tool Electronic Brake Control Module, Brake Pedal Position Sensor parameter. The reading should change between Active and Inactive when applying and releasing the brake pedal.
• If the reading does not change between the specified values. refer to Symptoms - Lighting Symptoms - Lighting.
4. Perform the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Pressure Sensor Calibration Testing and Inspection.
5. Verify that DTC C0131 does not reset.
• If the DTC sets, replace the brake pressure modulator and verify the DTC does not reset. If the DTC resets, replace the EBCM.
6. Engine ON, observe the scan tool Brake Pressure Sensor parameter. The reading should be between 0.45-0.55 V when the brake pedal is not applied.
• If not between the specified values, replace the brake pressure modulator and verify the DTC does not reset. If the DTC resets, replace the EBCM.
7. Observe the scan tool Brake Pressure Sensor parameter. The reading should be between 0.45-4.50 V with the brake pedal applied.
• If not between the specified values, replace the brake pressure modulator and verify the DTC does not reset. If the DTC resets, replace the EBCM.
Repair Instructions
