Parking Brake Adjustment (9C3)
Warning:
Refer to Brake Dust Warning Brake Dust Warning.
1. Fully release the parking brake lever.
2. Remove the front floor console rear cover (1) by lifting the rear edge and gently pulling upward.
3. Loosen the park brake cable adjustment bolt (1) several turns to allow slack in the park brake cables.
4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
5. Remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
6. Hand install 2 wheel nuts on opposite wheel studs of each wheel hub to secure the brake rotors.
7. Ensure each rear wheel rotates freely by hand.
8. Rotate the brake rotor until the parking brake shoe adjuster access grommet (1) is in the 6 o'clock position.
9. Remove the parking brake shoe adjuster access grommet.
10. Slowly rotate the adjuster nut (1) until the brake rotor cannot be rotated.
11. Loosen the adjuster nut 3-5 clicks.
12. Ensure the brake rotor can be rotated by hand without binding.
13. Repeat steps 8-12 for the opposite parking brake shoe.
14. Install the parking brake shoe adjuster access grommets.
15. Install the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
16. Lower the vehicle until the rear wheels are just above the floor.
17. Apply the parking brake lever 5-6 clicks.
18. Tighten the park brake cable adjustment bolt (1) until the slack in the park brake cables is removed.
19. Attempt to rotate the rear tire and wheel assemblies.
20. The tire and wheel assemblies should not be able to be rotated forward or rearward.
21. Fully release the park brake lever.
22. Ensure the rear tire and wheel assemblies rotate freely by hand.
23. Fully lower the vehicle.
24. Install the front floor console rear cover (1).
