Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 Sensor 2

Removal Procedure

1. Ignition Off.

Warning:
Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning Battery Disconnect Warning.


2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary).

Warning:
Refer to Safety Glasses Warning Safety Glasses Warning.


Danger:
To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.


3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.





4. Detach the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) wiring harness from the transmission case.

5. Disconnect the HO2S electrical connector (1) from the engine wiring harness.





Warning:

Caution:

6. Remove the HO2S (1) from the exhaust.

Installation Procedure





Caution:
Replacement components must be the correct part number for the application. Components requiring the use of the thread locking compound, lubricants, corrosion inhibitors, or sealants are identified in the service procedure. Some replacement components may come with these coatings already applied. Do not use these coatings on components unless specified. These coatings can affect the final torque, which may affect the operation of the component. Use the correct torque specification when installing components in order to avoid damage.

Note:
New H02S have anti-seize compound applied to the H02S threads. If installing the original sensor, apply an approved anti-seize compound to the H02S threads.

1. Install the HO2S (1) to the exhaust and tighten to 42 Nm (31 lb ft).





2. Connect the HO2S electrical connector (1) to the engine wiring harness connector.

3. Attach the HO2S wiring harness to the transmission case.

4. Lower the vehicle.

5. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary).
