Compact Disc Player Not Responding

Circuit/System Description

The radio performs a self test to verify if any critical malfunction exists within compact disc player during wake up. The radio also monitors for malfunctions while the compact disc player is in use.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* Ignition is ON or in the ACC position

* The system voltage is 9-16 V

* The test is run once during radio wake up and monitored continuously during compact disc player use

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The compact disc player fails to respond when requested and internal communication attempts time out.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* The radio displays a "CD Error" message temporarily.

* The radio will attempt a communication reset with the CD player mechanism, this will be attempted each time there is an infotainment system source change request.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.

* The history DTC will clear after 50 fault-free ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification

1. Ignition ON, with a scan tool clear all DTCs.

2. Radio ON, play a known good CD. Verify DTC B1240 is not set as current.

• If DTC B1240 is set as current, replace the A11 radio.
