Circuit/System Description

The solenoid relay is located within the electronic brake control module (EBCM) and supplies battery voltage to all of the valve solenoids when commanded by the EBCM. The solenoid valves are integral parts of the brake pressure modulator valve assembly. The brake pressure modulator valve assembly contains an isolation solenoid valve and a dump solenoid valve for each wheel and a traction control/stability control prime solenoid valve and isolation solenoid valve for each brake circuit. The solenoid valves are not engaged during normal system operation. When the ABS, traction control or stability control operation is required the electronic brake control module (EBCM) turns the required solenoid valves ON.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* Ignition voltage is greater than 10 volts.

* The solenoid relay is commanded ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

* The EBCM detects an open in the B+ circuit to the solenoid valve relay.

* The EBCM detects a valve or solenoid malfunction.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* The EBCM disables the ABS, traction control system and the electronic stability control for the duration of the ignition cycle.

* A driver information center message and/or a warning indicator may be displayed.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.

* The EBCM clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 40 consecutive drive cycles.

Circuit/System Verification

1. Ignition ON, verify that DTC C0060, C0065, C0070, C0075, C0080, C0085, C0090, C0095, C0121, C0141, C0146, C0151, C0156 is not set.

If any of the DTCs are set, replace the EBCM.

2. Verify the DTC does not reset.

If the DTC resets, replace the brake pressure modulator valve assembly.
