Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Service and Repair.




2. Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel (1). Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement.




3. Remove the instrument panel outer trim covers (1,2). Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement.




4. Remove the instrument panel cluster trim pad (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Pad Replacement Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Pad Replacement.




5. Remove the windshield side garnish molding (1). Refer to Windshield Side Garnish Molding Replacement Windshield Side Garnish Molding Replacement.




6. Remove the instrument panel trim plate applique - left side (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Plate Applique Replacement - Left Side Instrument Panel Trim Plate Applique Replacement - Left Side.




7. Remove the instrument panel molding - driver side (1). Refer to Instrument Panel Molding Replacement - Driver Side Instrument Panel Molding Replacement - Driver Side.




8. Remove the instrument panel molding - passenger side (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Molding Replacement - Passenger Side Instrument Panel Molding Replacement - Passenger Side.




9. Remove the lower three fasteners of the roof side rail inflatable restraint module (4) to aid in the removal and installation of the instrument panel assembly. Refer to Airbag Roof Side Rail Module Replacement Airbag Roof Side Rail Module Replacement




10. Remove the three instrument panel flexible light tubes (1) from their retainers and reposition them without disconnecting the electrical connectors.




11. Remove the three instrument panel assembly fasteners (1).

12. Note location and routing of the instrument panel wiring harness prior to removal of the instrument panel assembly to ensure proper reinstallation.

13. Disconnect the wiring harness from the instrument panel assembly.

14. When removing the instrument panel assembly (2) apply tape to the edges of instrument panel to prevent marring.

15. With the aid of an assistant, remove the instrument panel assembly (2) from the vehicle.

16. When replacing the instrument panel assembly (2), transfer all necessary components.

Installation Procedure

1. When replacing the instrument panel assembly apply tape to the edges of the new panel.

2. With the aid of an assistant, position the instrument panel assembly (2) into the vehicle.

3. Reposition the instrument panel wiring harness into vehicle position as was noted in the removal process and connect the fasteners securing the instrument panel wiring harness to the instrument panel assembly.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

4. Install the three instrument panel assembly fasteners (1).




5. Install the three instrument panel flexible light tubes (1) to their retainers.




6. Install the lower three fasteners of the roof side rail inflatable restraint module (4). Refer to Airbag Roof Side Rail Module Replacement Airbag Roof Side Rail Module Replacement




7. Install the instrument panel molding - passenger side (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Molding Replacement - Passenger Side Instrument Panel Molding Replacement - Passenger Side.




8. Install the instrument panel molding - driver side (1). Refer to Instrument Panel Molding Replacement - Driver Side Instrument Panel Molding Replacement - Driver Side.




9. Install the instrument panel trim plate applique - left side (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Plate Applique Replacement - Left Side Instrument Panel Trim Plate Applique Replacement - Left Side.




10. Install the windshield side garnish molding (1). Refer to Windshield Side Garnish Molding Replacement Windshield Side Garnish Molding Replacement.




11. Install the instrument panel cluster trim pad (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Pad Replacement Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Pad Replacement.




12. Install the instrument panel outer trim covers (1,2). Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement.




13. Install the instrument panel upper trim panel (1). Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement.

14. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Service and Repair.
