ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURE
REFER TO THE CURRENT CHEVROLET SERVICE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES MANUAL AND CLAIMS PROCESSING MANUAL FOR CAMPAIGN HANDLING AND ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES.
Dear Chevrolet Owner:
General Motors has determined that some 1982 C10 and 1983 C10-20, K10 Series Light Duty Chevrolet Trucks equipped with 4.1 liter L6 engines and automatic transmissions may be emitting pollutants in excess of Federal Emission Standards.
The exhaust gas recirculating (EGR) bleed restrictor may have been omitted in the exhaust emission control harness assembly. The absence of this bleed restrictor may result in poor engine performance and failure to meet NO(x) emission standards.
To bring your vehicle into compliance with applicable emission requirements, Chevrolet Dealers will install the EGR bleed restrictor. This service will be performed at no charge to you. Please contact your Chevrolet Dealer on or after the date shown below to arrange an appointment to have this condition corrected.
Instructions for making this correction have been sent to you dealer. It is estimated that parts will be available at your dealer on or about November 22, 1983. The labor time for making this modification is approximately 20 minutes.
The enclosed owner reply card identifies your vehicle. Presentation of this card to your dealer will assist in making the necessary correction to your vehicle in the shortest possible time. If you have sold or traded your vehicle, please let us know by completing the postage paid owner reply card and returning it to us.
We are sorry to cause you this inconvenience; however, we have taken this action in the interest of your continued satisfaction with our products.
