CLUTCH CABLE
Removal
1. Support clutch pedal upward against the bumper stop to release the pawl from the detent. Disconnect the clutch cable from the clutch release lever. Be careful and prevent the cable from snapping rapidly toward rear of the vehicle. The detent in the adjusting mechanism can be damaged by allowing the cable to snap back.
2. Remove hush panel from inside the vehicle and disconnect the the neutral start switch from the pedal and bracket.
3. Remove bolts retaining clutch pedal stop to clutch pedal mounting bracket.
4. Remove clutch pedal pivot bolt and remove clutch pedal assembly from bracket.
5. Disconnect the clutch cable from the detent end tangs. Lift the locking pawl away from the detent, then slide the cable forward between the detent and locking pawl.
6. From engine side of the cowl, remove bolts retaining clutch cable to cowl panel.
7. Remove cable from vehicle.
8. Inspect clutch cable. Replace cable for any of the following conditions:
- Frayed wires
- Kinked cable
- Worn end
- Boot and seal assembly damaged or high friction between cable and seal.
