1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect exhaust pipe from manifold.
3. Disconnect power steering reservoir from upper fan shroud and position aside, then remove upper shroud.
4. Drain cooling system and disconnect hoses from radiator.
5. Remove radiator and cooling fan, then lower fan shroud.
6. Disconnect heater hoses from engine, then PCV valve at cylinder head cover.
7. Disconnect positive cable from battery, and remove air cleaner and bracket.
8. If equipped with air conditioning, evacuate system and remove manifold at compressor.
9. If equipped with power steering, disconnect power steering pump.
10. Disconnect necessary vacuum hoses, wiring, fuel hoses and throttle linkage.
11. Remove starter.
12. Scribe alignment marks in hood hinge area, then remove hood.
13. Remove shifter assembly, then raise and support vehicle.
14. Remove right side motor mount through bolt, Fig. 8, then disconnect lower clutch cable.
15. Disconnect clutch bell crank at frame.
16. Disconnect back-up light switch wires and speedometer cable and position aside.
17. Remove driveshaft and transmission mount nut, then support transmission.
18. Remove transmission crossmember, then transmission to bellhousing mounting bolts.
19. Remove transmission, then engine to bellhousing mounting bolts.
20. Remove bellhousing, then lower vehicle.
21. Disconnect upper clutch cable, then remove bell crank.
22. Install suitable engine lifting device.
23. Remove left side motor mount through bolt, Fig. 8, then disconnect battery ground cable at engine block.
24. Remove engine.
25. Reverse procedure to install.
