Excessive Fuel Consumption

1. Check air cleaner for restrictions.
2. Check full load adjustment bolt seal for leakage.
3. Check fuel pipes for leakage.
4. Check exhaust system for restrictions.
5. Ensure idle speed is within specifications.
6. Ensure proper quality of fuel.
7. Check injection timing.
8. Check fuel spray pattern, and ensure injection starting pressure is 1493 psi.
9. Ensure valve clearances are satisfactory. Refer to specifications.
10. Check compression pressure in each cylinder. Standard value should be 441 psi.
11. Check delivery valve for sticking.
12. Replace or readjust setting of injection pump.
