Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

Refer to Fig. 21 when performing the following procedure.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Drain cooling system, then disconnect heater core inlet and outlet hoses.
3. Using compressed air, blow air through heater core nipples to remove coolant from core.
4. Discharge A/C system, then disconnect inlet and outlet hoses at evaporator core.
5. Remove left side instrument panel sound insulator.
6. Remove two screws attaching vacuum electric solenoid to heater core cover.
7. Disconnect vacuum electric solenoid electrical connector.
8. Remove six screws attaching heater core cover to A/C module assembly.
9. Remove heater core as described under HEATER CORE.
10. Remove upper instrument pad assembly.
11. Disconnect temperature motor harness electrical connector.
12. Remove four door/slave door housing attaching screws.
13. Remove four bolts from engine compartment side of cowl that attach evaporator core to evaporator cover, Fig. 22.
14. Reverse procedure to install.
