Owners Letter

Dear Chevrolet Truck Owner: November 16, 1990


General Motors has determined that certain 1990 C/K 1500-3500 Series light modal trucks were produced at the Oshawa Truck Assembly Plant with incorrect certification labels. The month/year was printed as 01/89 instead of 01/90 on these labels although the trucks were assembled correctly.


To correct this condition, a new certification label should be affixed to your truck. For your convenience, we have enclosed a new label which you may install yourself. Just follow the instructions on the reverse side of this letter.


If you decide not to install the new label yourself, your Chevrolet Dealer will install it for you at no charge. If your dealer is unable to assist you, we recommend you contact the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-222-1020.


If you install the new certification label yourself, or if you have sold or traded your truck, please let us know by completing the enclosed postage paid reply card and returning it to us. This will assist us in assuring that all affected vehicles have been corrected.


We are sorry to cause you this inconvenience; however, we have taken this action in the interest of your safety and continued satisfaction with our products.


SERVICE PROCEDURE


1. Open driver's door.


2. Verify that the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of the new Certification Label is the same as on the existing label (See example below).


If the VIN of the new certification label is different from the existing label, contact the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center by calling 1-800-222-1020.


If the VIN of the new certification label is the same as the existing label, follow the remaining steps of this procedure and install the new label.


3. With an appropriate instrument, lift corner edge of the old certification label and peel from door edge.


4. Clean area where label will be installed with soapy water and wipe dry.


5. Remove protective backing from new label and carefully apply to vehicle in the same location as the original label.


NOTICE: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE OR LOOSEN THE NEW LABEL ONCE IT HAS BEEN APPLIED AS THIS WILL DAMAGE THE LABEL AND MAKE IT ILLEGIBLE.


6. Complete postage paid reply card and return it to us.
