Power Locks: Description and Operation

RH AND LH DOOR AND LIFTGATE LOCK MOTORS
Voltage is applied at all times through the PWR ACCY Circuit Breaker to the Power Door Lock Relay. Voltage is applied at all times to the Power Door Lock Switches and Key Lock Switches from the CTSY Fuse. When either Door Lock Switch is pushed to "LOCK," voltage is applied through CKT 195 to the Lock Relay. The relay energizes, the contacts close and voltage is applied to the RH and LH door and Liftgate Lock Motors through CKT 295. The motors are grounded at G201 through CKT 294 from the switch contacts of the Unlock Relay. When a Power Door Lock Switch is pushed to "UNLOCK" or Key Lock Switch closed, voltage is applied through CKT 194 to the Unlock Relay. The relay energizes, the contacts close and voltage is applied in reverse to the Power Door Lock Motors through CKT 294. The motors are grounded at G201 through CKT 295, the switch contacts of the Lock Relay and CKT 150.

SLIDING DOOR LOCK MOTOR
The Sliding Door Lock Motor will not operate when the Sliding Door is open. The RH "B" pillar contains a contact switch and the Sliding Door a contact plate. When the switch is closed, CKT 294 and CKT 295/1608 are connected to the Lock Motor allowing normal operation. When the Switch is open (Sliding Door open), CKT 294 and CKT 295/1608 are disconnected from the Sliding Door Lock Motor, preventing it from energizing.

The Sliding Door Lock Motor functions as described with the RH and LH door and Liftgate Lock Motors when the Sliding Door is closed and a "LOCK" or "UNLOCK" operation takes place. When the Sliding Door is open and a Door Lock Switch is moved to "LOCK," the Power Sliding Door Lock Module senses battery voltage on CKT 195 and ground on CKT 1597 (Sliding Door Jamb Switch closed to ground). When the Power Sliding Door Lock Module loses the ground on CKT 1597, Sliding Door Jamb Switch open, the Power Sliding Door Lock Module starts a 5 second timer. If the Power Sliding Door Lock Module senses a voltage on CKT 194 from a Door Lock Switch being moved to "UNLOCK," the Power Sliding Door Lock Module will stop and reset its 5 second timer. When the 5 second timer times out, the Power Sliding Door Lock Module applies voltage on CKT 1609 to energize the Power Sliding Door Lock Relay. When the Power Sliding Door Lock Relay is energized, voltage is applied through the closed contracts of the Power Sliding Door Lock Relay to the Sliding Door Lock Motor. The Sliding Door Lock Motor is grounded though the Power Door Lock Relay.
