Troubleshooting Hints
START DIAGNOSTICS HEREPerform the checks listed below before beginning System Diagnosis.
1. If the vehicle runs, the Engine Control Module (ECM) Fuse and the Fuel Pump Fuse are good.
2. If the horns or the Audio Alarm Module operate normally, the Horn Fuse is good. This will check the integrity of the Horn Relay, the horns and CKT 529, 150 and 151.
3. If the Power Door Locks or the Power Seat operate normally, the PWR ACCY Circuit Breaker is good.
4. If the Headlamps come on with the alarm triggered, the Headlamp Relay Circuit Breaker and Headlamp Relay are good.
5. An intermittent Ignition feed (CKT 439) can cause false arming and false triggering of the alarm system.
NOTE: The Liftgate can only be "unlocked" with the door key or with a transmitter in range (passive mode enabled). This will check the integrity of CKTs 194, 195, 40, 1040, 294, 295, 1608 and 994.
NOTE: When disconnecting and reconnecting the vehicle Battery for service, check for normal operation of the Passive Keyless Entry/Security System. The doors should lock and the horns should "chirp" when taking the key fob out of antenna range. The doors should unlock when the key fob is brought into antenna range. If the system works OK except for the door unlock function, refer to Chart 2 Passive Keyless Entry/Security System (PKE/SS) System Reset to reset the system to normal operation.
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove "GOOD" in a continuity or voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems.
SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS
Perform Preliminary System Checklist and proceed to Chart 1 Passive Keyless Entry/Security System (PKE/SS) Diagnostic Routine.
NOTE:
The Symptom/Chart Index is for reference only. Do not attempt to troubleshoot the system via this chart. Refer to Chart 1 Passive Keyless Entry/Security System (PKE/SS) Diagnostic Routine. Chart 1 Keyless Entry Transmitter Does Not Unlock or Lock Doors
