Door Locks: Description and Operation

CIRCUIT OPERATION
The Automatic Door Lock (ADL) System is controlled by the Automatic Door Lock Module. The Automatic Door Lock Module will send a Battery voltage signal to the "LOCK" (CKT 195) or "UNLOCK" (CKT 194) coils in the Power Door Lock Relay when certain conditions are present.

LOCK
The Automatic Door Lock Module will lock all doors when the following conditions are present:

1. Ignition Switch in "ON" position.
2. Driver's door and sliding door closed.
3. Transaxle shifted out of the "PARK" position.

If the driver's door is open when the Transaxle is shifted out of the "PARK" position, the doors will not lock and will remain unlocked even after the driver's door is closed until the system is reset. The system reset occurs with the Transaxle in the "PARK" position, and the Ignition "ON."

If the Sliding Door is open when the Transaxle is shifted out of the "PARK" position, all doors will lock immediately. All doors will lock again five seconds after the Sliding Door is closed.

UNLOCK
When the LH or RH Key Lock Switch is turned to the "UNLOCK" position, a switched ground signal is provided to the Automatic Door Lock Module. The Automatic Door Lock Module will then apply Battery voltage through CKT 194 to the "UNLOCK" coil in the Power Door Lock Relay, unlocking all doors.
